Our Founder
Amanda Cheung's passion for jewelry was kindled in childhood by her mother's exquisite jewelry box. The graceful elegance with which her mother adorned those pieces planted the seeds of beauty in her heart. Her childhood experiences of traveling and hiking with her parents forged an enduring connection with nature—vast mountains, serene lakes, and boundless horizons became her endless wellspring of energy and, later, her creative muse.
Amanda studied in Hong Kong and Tokyo before becoming a university lecturer in Chinese literature. When she first set foot on the sacred and spiritual land of Shangri-La years ago, an inner calling became unmistakably clear: it was time. She left academia to pursue her passion, and soon after, the jewelry brand EON was born—dedicated to discovering and celebrating the gifts of nature. Inspired by Amanda's unique life journey, eon's designs reflect not only the beauty of the natural world but also urban chic and a profound connection to Chinese culture.
As EON's designer, Amanda is not only a visionary creator but also a classically trained goldsmith. her mastery of metalworking has endowed Amanda with immeasurable advantages in high jewelry design. She understands how every precious material behaves during crafting, recognizes its interactions with other materials, and knows precisely to what extent she can realize her creative vision. “Artisanship is a form of meditation," Amanda often says. " It demands absolute patience, focus, resilience, creativity, deep thought—and even a strong, healthy body." This philosophy extends to her identity as a Gemologist and mineral specimen collector. Enthralled by the raw beauty of uncut gemstones, she insists on preserving their primal energy in her designs—rejecting artificial enhancements and excessive intervention—so each piece remains an authentic slice of the Earth.
To Amanda, beauty is never an isolated pursuit. She has woven sustainability and social responsibility into EON's DNA, using only recycled metals and ethically sourced gemstones. The entire eon team is composed of women, each bringing unique stories, skills, and passion - from seasoned female artisans with decades of experience to the young operations team that consistently brings new energy and ideas. EON is establishing a women's artisan community in Shangri-La, Yunnan, providing skills training to empower local women with dignified livelihoods. True to its namesake "EON"—a measure of geological time—Amanda believes only creations that honor nature and nurture communities can withstand the test of time.
